I feel like we could transform all of our celebrations to be more Christ-centered, not just Easter and Christmas. With 2020 just around the corner, I'd love to implement some ideas for starting the year properly focused. I'd love to host a night of prayer for the New Year. I have teens, so I'd love to invite some other parents on teens and pray over our children. However, if you'd rather not include others outside your family, you could also gather your family to pray over everyone in your family as you approach 2020. I found five Scriptures that I'd love to use in the time as we focus on the NEW approaching. Here are some Scriptures to use to guide your time of prayer:
Pray for strength, renewal, and for each not to stumble - Isaiah 40:30-31 "Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Pray for God to do a new thing in each person and your family - Isaiah 43:19 "See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."
Pray for God to work good in each person's life and for them to be called according to His promise - Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
Pray for a God's plans and purposes to be fulfilled for each person - Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Pray for each person to be God's new creation - 2 Corinthians 5:17 - "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"
I have ideas for fun New Year's celebration to host for your family or kids coming next. Do you have New Year's ideas to share? What other Scriptures would you add to my list to guide your prayer?
