Way Point Baptist offers Sunday services and small groups in homes. This is a very military-friendly church.
Legacy Church with a Clovis campus offers two Sunday services and Wednesday night activities.
Central Baptist is the largest church in town and offers many ministries. One key feature they offer is sports recreation for kids – flag football and basketball.

offers the Big-Texan Steak Ranch restaurant and the Cadillac Ranch as well as shopping options. The Cadillac Ranch is an iconic art installation featuring a row of ten vintage Cadillacs buried nose-first in the ground that allows visitors to spray pain to leave their mart. It’s a vibrant and ever-evolving piece of public art that merges automotive enthusiasts and artists alike.
Also two-hour-drive from Cannon AFB, Ute Lake State Park in New Mexico:
offers boating, fishing, and camping. It also has an opportunity for swimming and a beach area.
Also about two hours away, in Roswell, New Mexico:
Get in touch with the idea of creatures from another planet. Roswell, New Mexico, is a small city renowned for its association with a purported 1947 UFO crash, which has made it a hub for extraterrestrial enthusiasts and quirky attractions. Beyond its UFO lore, Roswell offers a charming mix of Southwestern culture, with unique museums, art galleries, cute shopping, and a vibrant local community. Roswell also hosts a Museum and Art Center that promotes art and history of the American Southwest and bordering regions.

Offers shopping, history, museums, and art galleries. The old Santa Fe downtown area is a favorite of guests. Santa Fe is celebrated for its rich history, vibrant arts scene, and distinctive adobe architecture. The city blends Native American, Spanish, and modern influences, making it a unique cultural and artistic hub in the American Southwest.

Offers a dynamic mix of cultural experiences and natural beauty, from its historic Old Town to the stunning landscapes of the Sandia Mountains. Visitors can enjoy diverse attractions, including the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, world-class museums, and great local cuisine. The October Balloon Festival is popular and hotels book well in advance so plan ahead with reservations.
Four hours away, explore the underground passages of Carlsbad Caverns National Park.
These caverns captivate visitors with underground landscapes, including vast chambers, intricate rock formations, and stunning stalactites and stalagmites. The park offers a range of tours, from easy self-guided walks to adventurous guided explorations, revealing the impressive scale and beauty of one of the largest and most famous cave systems in the world. The also include a bat show in the evening.
Annual Events to Look Forward to near Cannon Air Force Base:
Cannon Air Force Base’s club, the Landing Zone, sponsors a themed event with food and kids activities on the first Friday of each month.
Curry County Fair (Clovis) in August.
Roosevelt County Fair (Portales) in August.
Wings N Wheels Air Display each year in September. This is an outdoor, family-focused community event which includes a military and vintage aircraft and antique car display. There are kids’ activities, live music, scenic flights, and a fly-in. Clovis Regional Airport September.
Five Heart Farms hosts a Fall Festival in September as well as other activities throughout the year.
Cannon Air Force Base sponsors an annual Holiday parade and tree-lighting. Floats are decorated by squadrons on base. The parade route starts near the Child Development Center( CDC) and ends at the Landing Zone Club. At the club, they offer cookies and hot coca and pictures with Santa.

Downtown, Clovis NM Crafters Mall.
The Crafters Mall has a variety of merchandise ranging from boutique clothing, handmade items, vintage goods, furniture, accessories and gift items.
Bullet Bob Antique store on Main Street in Clovis
Offers an extraordinary array of vintage and antique treasures. They offer an eclectic clloection ranging from antique collectives to vintage furniture and vinyl records plus iconic gas and oil signs. The owner, Bob, is super friendly.
A pottery painting shop in Clovis. They offer kids and adults pottery, painting, and glass and tile classes.
Purchase some fresh-pressed peanut butter in the Hampton Farms Peanuts and Nut Butters located in Portales, NM.

Blackwater Coffee: My favorite place in Clovis!!! They have coffee and food. Offering breakfast and lunch items.
The Twin Cronnie Drive-In offers famous hotdogs, burgers, fries and onion rings.
Foxy Drive in offers drive in and dine in freshly made and cooked-to-order food items. The restaurant is an authentic 1950s diner that was opned in 1956. Foxy: Drive and dine-in burger restaurant
Taqueria Jalisco Mexican
Don Marias in Clovis offers the best breakfast burritos
Leal’s Mexican has restaurants in Portales and Clovis. Their famous chips and salsa are sold in other local stores.
Something Different Grill has an on-base location and one off-base also.

Muleshoe Animals Clinic (Muleshoe, TX) 45mins away is open throughout the week and on Saturday mornings.

What’s the best part about living near Cannon Air Force Base?
The sunsets are so pretty. The base community is very strong. You will make friends very quickly if you live on base. We had many neighborhood parties and social events on base. Clovis is a small town and you will recognize people everywhere you go. There is comfort in that.
What’s the most challenging part about living near Cannon Air Force Base?
It is a remote base. To do anything is about 2-3 hours away. At times it can feel isolated. Getting Medical care can be challenging for family members.
